Background
Fundación Mutualidad, a non-profit organization within Grupo Mutualidad, oversees the Lab de Emprendimiento Jurídico, a program designed to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the legal industry.

To achieve these goals, Fundación Mutualidad partnered with TeamLabs/, a learning laboratory known by its unique pedagogical approach, which bridges the gap between academia and the professional world through three core principles: learning by doing, team entrepreneurship, and international learning experiences.

As part of this collaboration, TeamLabs/ invited UXERSCHOOL to join the initiative. Their proposal was for UXERSCHOOL to assemble a team of former students to contribute to the Lab de Emprendimiento Jurídico by designing and prototyping the products idealized by the participating teams in its fifth edition.
Overview
ROLE: UX/UI Designer

TEAM: Regina Mizuno and Sergio López

TIMELINE:
3 weeks
TOOLS USED:
Miro, Figma, FigJam, GoogleMeets
Challenge
Provide support for one of the teams in defining prototypes, from conceptualization and solution sketching to wireframing and the design of mockups, applying a consistent basic graphic style.

Project Goals
Develop clear, functional, and visually cohesive prototypes that effectively address the identified needs and enhance the user experience, and align with the project's business objectives.
Solution

For this challenge, my UX partner and I were tasked with supporting the Uplawd project team. Collaborating closely with the team, we carefully identified and prioritized key user flows and structured the app’s information architecture.
Using these insights, we redesigned the application to improve usability and functionality. Additionally, we developed a promotional website to boost visibility and attract potential users, building a valuable database for future engagement. To ensure ongoing communication, we also designed an email template for sharing updates and news with the user base.
PHASE 1 - first steps
KICK OFF | INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE WIREFLOW
Our initial task was to review the content from prior research conducted by the Uplawd team. Along with the project briefing, our client provided user survey results and statistical data resulted from its first research, allowing us to identify and categorize key insights.
To ensure a well-structured and confident approach to the object of the project, we first designed the app’s information architecture. Collaborating closely with the Uplawd team, my colleague and I outlined the app’s structure, ensuring clarity and coherence. From there, we focused on designing key wireflows that the team identified as essential for developing the prototype.
These wireflows helped illustrate and explain the project's core functionality and provided a solid foundation for the Demo Day presentation.
Initial wireframes
Additionally, we analyzed the team’s initial wireframes, using them as a starting point to refine and enhance the design. Our goal was to improve both functionality and visual appeal, ensuring a more intuitive and engaging user experience.
Phase 2 - design SOLUTIONS
SOLUTION SKETCH | Design System
With the structure in place, my UX partner and I were able to begin wireframing with greater confidence. Since our goal was to present the new app design, we focused on creating wireframes for key features while also refining the brand and its design system. This ensured a cohesive visual language and maintained consistency across the product.
At this stage—now in our second week of work—my role was to redesign the Uplawd logo while preserving the existing color palette and typography, in line with the client’s request. Additionally, I began developing the app’s wireframes based on the user flows we had established the previous week. Meanwhile, my partner was responsible for designing the wireframes for the promotional webpage and email template.
The redesigned Uplawd logo was built to feel modern and dynamic, with a visual identity that conveys success, creativity, reliability, and innovation. The imagery and messaging were carefully aligned with the legal environment, reinforcing the app’s mission and purpose.

To optimize the development process for the next phase while ensuring consistency and efficiency, I played a key role in establishing the Design System for the Uplawd project. So, with this resource as a reference, the development team could ensure consistency and alignment during future product implementation phases.
PHASE 3 - DELIVERY
HIGH FIDELITY PROTOTYPE

As we entered the final week of the project, we delivered the high-fidelity prototypes.
The first deliverable was the application prototype. Our objective, defined in collaboration with the Uplawd team, was to present the product from the perspective of a new user.
To achieve this, we developed an onboarding experience that introduces the app through key highlighted information, followed by the user login process. Users can choose to log in as a registered user, create a new account, or access the platform as an invited user. Each step was carefully designed to enhance realism and usability.
After onboarding, users are directed to the home screen, where information about courts is displayed. From there, they can easily find the details they need using filters, recent court updates, geolocation, or category-based navigation.
Finally, users can access a detailed court information screen, which includes essential details such as the address, operating hours, and contact information. Additionally, real-time updates—such as trial delays, absence of officials, and other relevant notifications—are provided through user-generated contributions on the platform.
The second deliverable was the app’s official web page. To promote the product and build a database of users interested in the app and its updates, we developed the Uplawd landing page.
The landing page provides users with an overview of how the app works and highlights its key benefits, ensuring a clear and compelling presentation of its value.
RESULTS
Following the delivery of our final products, the Uplawd team provided highly positive feedback. Seeing the project materialize through our deliverables exceeded their expectations and left a strong impression.
The team recognized our work as a viable and compelling solution for their users. Our proposal aligned with their vision and served as a key asset for the final presentation day.
One of the main points discussed was that, as an experimental project, Uplawd currently lacks the resources to fully develop such a complex platform without external investment.
No matter what, as next steps, I would recommend launching a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) would allow the team to test the platform in a real-world setting, gather user feedback, and make necessary refinements before committing to full-scale development.
Additionally, focusing on product communication—actively promoting its benefits to the legal community. This could help attract a larger audience, increase engagement, and expand the platform’s subscriber base.
Project learnings
During this project, I had the valuable opportunity to explore a new field: legal entrepreneurship. Over the prototype phase of three weeks, I practiced collaborating and communicating with stakeholders to evaluate trade-offs such as time and effort. Clear and well-documented communication was essential for our remote collaboration, ensuring efficiency and alignment across the team. This experience also reinforced how fulfilling it is to work as part of a team.
Additionally, I gained hands-on experience working with a real client, designing an app, a landing page, and a Design System. This opportunity allowed me to create a cohesive and reusable design framework, which not only improved time management throughout the design process but also minimized errors, enhancing overall workflow efficiency.
In summary, this project involved significant learning and problem-solving. I am proud of our final delivery and grateful to be concluding this experience with a positive outcome.
